CCGC 2020 Championships Canceled

Hello all, As I've been talking about the past week, the Covid-19 situation has been incredibly fluid and changing literally hour to hour. Today as most of you have seen already, WGI canceled World Championships for all classes due to guidance from local and state authorities that holding the large scale event was not advisable given the rapidly evolving situation with Covid-19. Other circuits have been canceling events as well as late as today, and we expect more closures to follow given guidance that has been shared with us at a high level. In looking at this situation as well as the continued cancellations through California (and nationwide), the CCGC took a board vote and has voted on making the extremely tough decision of canceling CCGC Championships for the 2020 season. The decision is made difficult due to the massive amount of effort and time that our performing groups have invested in their programs this season. Our hearts are heavy making this decision, but our minds are OK knowing that we are following the guidance of trained officials and making the decision that will best ensure the safety of our amazing performers. We recognize EVERY group for their efforts and growth over the course of this shortened season. But at the end of the day the long term health and well being of our performers, adjudicators and spectators is the most important item to keep in full view. This situation is a paradigm shift for our activity, and I see it as something that we need to keep in our planning moving forward through future seasons. And we will do so. We will be sending out season patches out to unit addresses on record. If you are not sure about your address on record please reach out to Sharon at contests@theccgc.com. We will still be selecting scholarships for distribution and will make an announcement on the webpage as well as on social media for the winners. We will return in 2021 with the lessons of this season in mind and ready for the future. We wish you all the best in health and will be sending out updates regarding the Spring meeting and other details in the coming weeks. Ryan Schlieper - CCGC President
