CCGC announces Tom Andrews as Chief Judge
The CCGC Board of Directors is pleased to announce Tom Andrews has been appointed as Chief Judge for the CCGC.
Tom brings a wealth of pageantry experience and CCGC circuit experience with him in this role and we're excited to have Tom providing a focus on adjudication oversight as well as unit development and enhanced overview commentary. For those who may not be familiar with Tom (and for those who are!) here's a brief bio that covers the essentials: ---
Tom Andrews has been involved with pageantry arts most of his life. He has been involved with CCGC since 1973. Tom has performed many roles in pageantry from technician to judge, to program coordinator. As the Director of the San Jose Raiders, he guided the winter guard program to major successes, including to 6 WGI Independent World Class Championships and numerous other medals.
Tom has been on the staff of the Santa Clara Vanguard as well as the Program Coordinator for The Spirit of Atlanta. He has worked with numerous marching bands and winter guards throughout the west coast. He is currently the program coordinator for the Oak Grove High School Marching Band.
His judging experience has included DCI, WBA, as well as several winter guard circuits in the state of California. He has been mentored by the best and has worked alongside some of the superstars in our activity.
During his 25 years with the San Jose Raiders, Tom developed a series of improvisational workshops and theater games for the pageantry arts. His games and pre-show warm-ups are widely used throughout our community. His classes and direction have helped bring pageantry closer to performing arts theater.
Tom’s day job is as a public-school teacher. For the past 24 years he has taught on the Eastside of San Jose. He has a degree in math and his MS in administration. He has served as the math department chairman on several public-school campuses and has been a master teacher for over a dozen new teachers. He has developed programs for struggling students and is currently writing a book on how to work with “at risk students”.
Tom is hoping that his expertise will bring accountability and professionalism to this role as chief judge.
Please join us in welcoming Tom to this new role with the circuit!
